The Solace Foundation of Orange County (SFOC) was established in response to the opioid overdose crisis, which is claiming a life every 24 minutes in the U.S. SFOC is the only naloxone distribution program in Orange County. Working with a local physician, who assumes full prescribing authority and clinical oversight, the SFOC offers overdose recognition and response training. Under the provisions of Assembly Bill 635, the Overdose Prevention Treatment Act, the SFOC are able to provide naloxone to individuals they train. Additionally, AB635 protects these individuals from civil or criminal prosecution for practicing medicine without a license.
